Ten years ago I did things so much differently, I traveled around a lot more and I shot in hotel rooms. The key was finding a brand that had rooms that where big enough where you could move around and designate shooting areas. Red roof Inn seemed to work for me.
The rooms where almost identical no matter where I went. They all had a bed, space by the door, a little round table. All I needed to bring was thumb tacks and two small blankets, one light one dark to use as backdrops.
Here are my dark and light small blankets at work with Kitten in a Red Roof Inn in Elkhart, Indiana back in 2003.
I did learn from my 35mm road tripping days. I do things differently now, mainly because I have access to better places and I don’t travel as much.
